“Right.” He wiped his hands on his arms and made a move to rise, but she stopped him by placing her hand on his tense arm.
“Wait, why are you mad?”
“I’m not a boy to be toyed with, princess.”
“Who’s toying?”
Instead of answering, he asked a question of his own, one that went straight to the heart of the matter. “Finally stopped running, princess?”
“Yes.”
“So you’ve made your choice then.”
“I have.”
“And Cord?” he asked, referring to her as-of-last-week ex-boyfriend.
“Out of the picture.”
“For good?”
“Yes.” Cord had been the shield she kept in place for the good part of three years to keep her unnatural desires at bay. It hadn’t worked of course. All it had managed to do was to put off the inevitable and hurt a good man in the process. Skylar wasn’t pleased with herself for the way she’d strung him along all these years. When he began to speak of buying a house and the possibility of marriage, she knew right then and there she had to call a halt to things.
“For sure this time?”
She nodded her head in lieu of answering. Deep inside she was sure Gideon and Tripp were tired of her indecision, but truth be told, she’d been more confused than confident since she met the two of them.
Skylar had never wanted for anything a day in her life. She wasn’t proud to admit it, but it was true. She was the only child of a high-society couple who bred because it was expected of them. She was their crowning heir. Good looks, good fortune and a good life were all hers for the taking.
Everything she’d ever wanted she’d been given. Even now, though she was a college graduate with a degree in art history, she’d never worked a day in her life. It wasn’t expected of her. She went to school not only to learn, but to fall in love with a suitable lawyer, doctor or MBA-type man and continue with the tradition of money marrying money.
Only things didn’t quite happen that way. She fell in love all right, but with two men instead of one. And her life hadn’t been the same since. It had taken her a while to figure out how to get what she wanted without losing everything she worked hard to build with the two of them. Now that the time was upon her she felt a bit unprepared for it, but that didn’t mean she was going to back down.
“And…”
“Hang around after the party and you’ll find out.”
“Just like that?” He laughed harshly. “After eight years of indecision you’ve made up your mind?”
“I’m a slow learner.”
“Tell me something I don’t know.” Gideon glanced across the backyard toward Tripp who stood by the barbeque laughing with Holden.
Skylar watched him, wondering what he was thinking, but was too afraid to ask. Had she waited too long to come to her senses? Would she lose her chance to be with them now that she had finally worked up the nerve to ask for what she truly wanted? When the silence became too heavy to bear, she nervously licked her lips and spoke his name softly. He picked up the lotion and glanced back down at her. “Lie back down.”
She didn’t hesitate, instantly obeying his sharp command. When she first set out to seduce Gideon, she’d mistakenly thought she would be the one in charge. From the steel in his tone, she quickly realized maybe she didn’t know him as well as she thought she did.
Silently he began to rub the lotion into her upturned cheeks, taking his time, touching every available inch of her. His thumb brushed against the thin fabric between her legs, sending bolts of pleasure ricocheting throughout her body. Without volition her legs fell open to accept his questing touch, wondering if he would dare to go further. She didn’t have to wonder for long. He slipped his finger under her suit into the dark cavern of her sex, chuckling low when he discovered the moist evidence of her desire.
Embarrassed now, she shut her legs firmly, or at least she tried. Gideon didn’t move his hand, nor did he stop caressing her, in fact, the bastard added another finger to his wicked play.
“Stop it,” she said in a broken whisper.
“I guess I’m not the only one turned-on by the suit.”
“It’s not the suit.” Her body was pulsing with desire despite the fact they were surrounded by people. He was going to make her come. Right here in front of God and country, and there wasn’t a damn thing she could do about it. “It’s you.”
“Me, huh. It’s about damn time.” Instead of being satisfied by her answer and stopping as she thought he would, Gideon continued to delve his fingers into her wet sex, fucking her with his hand as she laid helpless before him.
To be honest, Skylar didn’t know what part of this she loved more. The fact Gideon was fingering her, or that he was doing it in a very domineering, controlling way. It was as if her safe, fun-loving friend had morphed into a sex maniac, and she loved every second of it.
She did her best to suppress a moan of pleasure when the tip of his fingers brushed across her G-spot, but it was like trying to hold back a flood with a single sheet of paper “Gideon—”
“This looks friendly.”
Skylar jumped at the sound of Tripp’s voice and quickly rolled over. Thankfully Gideon moved as swiftly as her and removed his hand before she twisted in her effort to look presentable.
“Our Skylar’s a friendly girl,” Gideon said boldly. He didn’t seem the least bit embarrassed to be caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar, unlike Skylar. In contrast, she was mortified and could do nothing else but stare at the two of them, tongue-tied. She was sure her cheeks were ruby red and this time it had nothing to do with the sun.
“I can’t believe I’m missing all the fun, and at my own party even.” Although Tripp smiled when he spoke, his voice was absolutely emotionless. She couldn’t decide if he was angry or amused, but she could tell by the bulge in his Hawaiian-print shorts he was interested. Very interested. “Can I play too?”
